Paitkar Paintings Online.

Paitkar painting is one of the popular forms of art of Jharkhand state and also it is the oldest tribal painting in India. Another name of paitkar painting is scroll painting owing to its appearance. Earlier, these paintings were made on paper made of soil and glue and the colours used were also natural extracted from stones and natural vegetables. In order to give these scroll paintings a final touch, finished bamboo sticks are inserted both sides of the paintings. As this form of painting is influenced by tradition of local and adjacent states, one of the famous themes of this form of art is depiction of well known Bengali goddess Ma Mansa. These paintings depict the socio-religious customs of giving alms and holding yagnas to different Hindu gods and goddesses and tribal gods as well.
